Wendy Warr Interviews Alex Tropsha
WAW: You’ve been at UNC Chapel Hill for eighteen years. Have you ever been tempted to move elsewhere?
AT: I have but not in a serious way except for one case when I was heavily recruited elsewhere but still chose to stay. UNC is an amazing university that has been changing in my time here so rapidly that it looks and feels now quite different (and better) than when I moved here 18 years ago.
WAW: If you could start over, would you still pursue a career in computational chemistry?
AT: No doubt!!! I think our science is becoming more and more interesting every day, and the numbers of really exciting problems and opportunities to influence the research in mutually dependent experimental areas are immense. So I feel very lucky that I am in this field.
